Manik began training in MMA, competing at amateur level where he amassed a 2–0 record before transitioning exclusively to BJJ.

​

Manik started his BJJ journey almost 20 years ago when he joined SBG Manchester. He has over 15 years of coaching experience and teaches both gi and no-gi.

In 2023, he was awarded his black belt by Stealth BJJ head coach Steve Campbell and has been part of the coaching team at Central Performance Centre since it opened. He also referees and judges at various BJJ events.

He has trained in Rio de Janeiro several times to further develop his knowledge, training at legendary academies such as Checkmat Fightzone and Gordo BJJ.

He has competed across all belt levels, including internationally. Most recently, he became a British No-Gi gold medallist at black belt.
